Following the success of our first Community Bicycle Repair & Skills Workshop in July, we’re excited to bring the event back to Richmond Hill for a second session on Saturday, August 15.
We’re thrilled that this workshop is now full, with a waitlist available — a great sign of the community’s interest in learning practical cycling skills and making cycling a more accessible part of everyday life.
The workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn basic bicycle repairs, build confidence with their bikes, and take part in a bicycle safety skills session and guided ride. We’ll also have refreshments and a raffle to help make the afternoon a fun opportunity to connect with neighbours!
For us, cycling is about more than transportation. Accessible and affordable ways to get around can support physical and mental well-being, strengthen community connections, and help reduce the cost of everyday transportation. These goals also connect to the broader need for affordability in Richmond Hill, including ensuring that people have more options for managing the rising costs of housing and daily life.
We’re grateful to everyone who registered, volunteered, and supported this event, as well as our community partners who helped make it possible. This event is sponsored through a partnership between Family Services York Region, South-Central Richmond Hill Community Action Table (SCRHCAT), and United Way Greater Toronto.
We look forward to another great afternoon of learning, connecting, and getting Richmond Hill residents rolling! If you’re interested in more community bike events, there are many ways to get involved.
